Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi hosts are managed by Auto Deploy.
  • Upon rebooting these ESXi hosts, below message can be seen in the vCenter:

'Your host license expires in 0 days. The host will disconnect from vCenter Server when its license expires'

  • This alarm is reset when the ESXi host connects back to the vCenter after a reboot.
  • Third party Monitoring software capture this alert and send the email notifications to the users which causes a panic.

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 8.x
  • VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

Auto Deploy sets a one day evaluation period for all stateless hosts which are rebooted after their evaluation period of 60 days had expired. This triggers a alert in the vCenter which is captured by the monitoring software.

Resolution

Broadcom Engineering is aware of this issue. This issue will be fixed in a future patch release for vCenter 8.x and ESXi 8.x.
