"Cannot find valid JVM to load" error during the installation of Governance Minder

Issue/Introduction

During the Governance Minder (GM) installation, the following error is displayed:

“Could not find a valid Java Virtual Machine to load. You may need to reinstall a supported Java Virtual Machine.”

This occurs even though a JVM has been installed in accordance with the supported product matrix.

Cause

Governance Minder is specifically searching for JDK version 1.6.x.

Resolution

Install JDK 1.6 to bypass the installer validation. After migrating to a newer application server (for example, JBoss 6.x), a newer JVM version supported by the product matrix can be installed and used.
