Issue/Introduction

  • Log Collection for vCenter is reporting the error "Failed to retrieve VC events, tasks and alarms. Failed to configure ESX hosts to send logs. Failed to configure VC to send logs." when navigating to Infrastructure Operations → Configurations → Log Collection.
  • /storage/log/vcops/collector.log on Cloud Proxy shows similar error to below:
2025-12-16T13:04:39.511Z WARN collector #### [ops@####threadId="110178" threadName="pool-3534-thread-3"] [(79) com.vmware.adapter3.diagnostics.evaluator.impl.value.http.HttpValue.lambda$buildClient$1] - HTTP request returned code: 495 for address: https://<VCFQDN>:9543/api/v2/vsphere/<vCenterFQDN>/hosts. Raw response: {"errorMessage":"SSL connection failed. vCenter Server certificate is not trusted. Resolution

  1. Sign into VCF Operations UI → Navigate to Administration → Control Panel →  Log Management → VCF Operations for Logs UI will open → Navigate to Integration → vSphere  → Edit each vCenter configuration → Test Connection  → Accept certificate when prompted
  2. Apply the steps in KB Error "javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: PKIX path building failed..." in the Configurations > Log Collection for a vCenter
