Virtual machines do not run with the VMware EVC CPU mode configured in the cluster

Issue/Introduction

If the VMware EVC CPU mode generation of a virtual machine is older than the CPU mode generation of the cluster, the virtual machine runs with the CPU mode by the virtual machine setting. 

Example:

・Cluster: VMware EVC: Intel Ice Lake (Newer Generation)

・Virtual Machine: VMware EVC: Intel Cascade Lake (Older Generation)

Environment

VMware ESXi

VMware vCenter

Resolution

Disable VMware EVC on the virtual machine or align it to the same CPU mode as the cluster.
