Issue/Introduction

If replication is manually paused and then resumed, is the pause duration taken into account when calculating the next replication start time?

Environment

vSphere Replication 8.x
vSphere Replication 9.x

Resolution

Even if replication is manually paused, the pause duration is not factored into the next scheduled start time.
The scheduler plans replication runs to meet the configured RPO based on observed replication characteristics.

The next synchronization start time is calculated based on recent history, including:

  • The duration of the most recent replication runs
  • Current network bandwidth utilization
  • Starting earlier than expected in some cases to avoid an RPO violation
