Issue/Introduction

Symptom:

• Online to offline license mode change was performed to VLSR.
  Refer - Set up offline mode for VMware Live Site Recovery
  
  
• VLSR and VRMS is recently deployed in the environment.
  
  
• Site Pairs are in Connected state.
  
  
• Test Recovery Plan runs successfully.

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

• dr-dpx-agent handles the licensing heartbeat by communicating your usage and health status to the cloud to validate your VLSR subscription, if using online mode. If this service is stopped, the VLSR UI may show licensing errors or revert to a "disconnected" state, potentially impacting your ability to run or test recovery plans.
  
  
  • In this case the error is seen even when VLSR is in use in the offline mode.
    
    
  • In "/opt/vmware/support/logs/dr-dpx-agent/dpx-agent.log", we see below log entries -

• dr-dpx-agent service is enabled on VLSR.
  
  

Resolution

• Disable "dr-dpx-agent" on both side VLSR and VRMS VAMI webpage.
  
  Steps: VLSR/VR:5480 VAMI page > Services > dr-dpx-agent > Stop
  
  

Additional Information

• Activating VMware Live Site Recovery to work in VMware Live Recovery online mode might result in an error. When you activate VMware Live Site Recovery to work in VMware Live Recovery online subscription mode you might see the following error in the Live Site Recovery client "The operation is not allowed in the current state". This issue is triggered if the vSphere Replication appliance is working in a time zone different than UTC.
  
  Workaround: When using VMware Live Site Recovery in VMware Live Recovery online subscription mode, you must set the time zone of the vSphere Replication appliance to UTC.
