VMware SDDC Manager VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

When manual configuration changes are performed directly in vCenter (such as mounting an NFS datastore to a new cluster), the SDDC Manager inventory may become out of sync. From VCF 9.0 environments, this synchronization is managed through VCF Operations.

Environment

VCF 9.x

Resolution

Prerequisites

  • Integration between SDDC Manager and VCF Operations (Aria Operations) is configured and healthy.
  • Manual changes (e.g., NFS mounting) in vCenter have been completed successfully.

Follow these steps to synchronize the metadata from your Workload Domain vCenter to the SDDC Manager inventory:

1. Log in to the VCF Operations (formerly VMware Aria Operations) user interface using administrative credentials.

2. On the left-hand navigation pane, locate and click on Inventory.

3. From the inventory list, navigate through the hierarchy to find the Workload Domain (Domain Name) where the manual modifications (such as the new cluster or NFS mount) were performed.
Then Click on the specific domain to open its summary view in the right-hand pane.

4. Execute "Sync Inventory" Action

  • In the right-hand details view, locate the Actions button (typically found near the top right of the workspace).
  • Click on Actions to open the dropdown menu.
  • Select Sync Inventory from the list of available tasks.
  • Confirm the action if prompted. This will initiate a background process that polls the vCenter Server for the latest configuration data and updates the SDDC Manager database.
