Issue/Introduction

  • Global Manager (GM) Status: BGP neighbor shows a persistent "Deletion in progress" status.

  • Local Manager (LM) Status: The same neighbor appears as "Down" rather than being deleted.

  • API Validation: A direct API query reveals the neighbor entry is marked with delete:true but carries a flag: "overridden at site", indicating a sync mismatch between the GM and LM.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

  • The issue was caused by a configuration "override" at the Local Manager level in a Federation setup.
  • This local override prevented the deletion command initiated at the Global Manager from successfully synchronizing and completing.

Resolution

Revert Operation: Perform a "Revert" operation from the Local Manager (LM). This action discards local overrides and forces the LM to align its configuration state with the Global Manager.

Steps to perform revert operation:

  • Switch to respective Local Manager.
  • Navigate to T0 Gateway > BGP neighbor > Click ⋮ "Revert"

In NSX Federation, local overrides take precedence over global configs. Reverting the override allows the Global Manager's "delete" instruction to finally execute on the Local Manager.
