Issue/Introduction

During vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) patching, the Lifecycle Manager pre-check may display a warning indicating insufficient disk space on the archive partition (/storage/archive). This warning may appear even after the appliance disk size has been increased and does not prevent the patching process from completing successfully.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) 8.x

Cause

The /storage/archive partition is for database WAL operations, and it will normally run at close to full capacity.  This is by design and does not indicate a problem.

Resolution

Note: This is a warning only and does not impact vCenter patching. The following workaround is optional and intended to remove the warning and ensure sufficient archive capacity for future operations.

Additional Information

The archive disk space warning does not block patch installation.

Manual resizing of LVM volumes or partitions is not supported.
