Products

VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite) SaltStack entitlement to VMware VMware SaltStack VMware Tanzu Platform Services - SALT

Issue/Introduction

  • User has access to a pre-configured job with preset target
    • In other words, the job itself has a target set in the job and the user is not able to choose any other target
  • User is seeing the job queue instead of execute as expected

Environment

Aria Automation Config 8.14+

Cause

User does not have access, or has partial access to the target group via other target groups that have overlapping minion sets.

Resolution

The target itself needs to be updated to grant access to a role. See the documentation for configuring user roles.

  • This can be done by navigating to Administration -> Roles -> <NAME OF THE ROLE>
  • Find the "Resource Access" tab
  • Under "Targets", click the "Show all targets" toggle button
    • This should turn green
  • In the list of targets that appears, edit the target group to at least be "Read Only" permission
