Issue/Introduction

The Support Data volume fails during volume resize.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.2

Cause

The volume size for Support Data is fixed at 1Gi and is not configurable during volume resize operation.

Resolution

This volume is not supposed to be resized and any attempt to resize the volume would fail. Please make sure this volume is not selected/skipped for a volume resize action.

Detailed Steps for Volume resizing from UI

  1. Launch the VCF Operations UI

  2. Navigate to Fleet Management → Lifecycle → VCF Management → Components

  3. Click "Manage" for either of "automation"/"identity-broker" component as volume resize issue is applicable for these two components.

  4. Click on "STORAGE RESIZE" option from above UI/UX

  5. In the above screenshot avoid resizing "Support Data" entry with Volume Group Capacity of 1 GB (This is the volume that is not resizable)

  6. In the below example "Support Data" entry with Volume Group Capacity of 80 GB is selected and resized to 81 GB, a User can also select multiple Volume Group Name for resize skipping the one mentioned in step 5
Note that, the "Support Data" entry with Volume Group Capacity of 1 GB is left as it is and no changes were made as it is not resizable.

  7. Click "Next"

  8. Click "Resize" after reviewing the request

  9. The "Resize" operation/task will execute and a successful task results in above screenshot.
