Issue/Introduction

  • When attempting to update NSX-T VIBs on a host or cluster managed by vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM), the task fails. The following error message is observed in the vCenter UI:
    • com.vmware.vcIntegrity.lifecycle.ClusterApplySolutionTask.NonSolutionDrift<Solution apply failed because the vSphere Lifecycle image contains either a new ESXi version or a new addons version or new components. Please proceed to the vSphere Client Lifecycle Manager to update ESXi or addons or components along with the solution 'com.vmware.nsxt'>
  • In vCenter UI, you will observe below error snippets.

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 7.X
  • VMware vCenter Server 8.X
  • VMware NSX

Cause

This issue occurs because the ESXi host's installed image version is out of compliance with the desired ESXi image configured at the cluster level via vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM).

Resolution

To resolve this issue, the NSX components must be updated through the vSphere Lifecycle Manager interface by modifying the cluster image. This ensures all hosts in the cluster remain compliant with the centralized image.
