Post ESXi8.0u2c version upgrade host is not responding

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading the ESXI host to version 8.0 u2c, the host is not responding in vCenter Server.

Restarting hostd crashes instantly and creates a coredump

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Mismatch between net-dvs and configstore.

There is an extra switch that needs to be cleaned up

Resolution

SSH into the affected ESXI host with root credentials

1. Identify the extra switch :

         net-dvs -l | grep -i alias

2. Remove the identified switch :

       net-dvs -d XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

3. Restart hostd

      /etc/init.d/hostd restart
