Issue/Introduction

When deploying the Usage Meter Appliance OVF template via the vSphere Client, the deployment wizard reports the following warning: "The certificate is expired."

Environment

VCF Usage Meter 9.0

Cause

The digital signature used to sign the Usage Meter 9.0 OVF package during the build process expired on January 3, 2026.
Because the certificate is no longer within its validity period, the vSphere Client triggers a validation warning. This is a packaging issue and does not affect the functional integrity or security of the appliance software once installed.

Resolution

This is a known issue. A permanent fix will be provided in a future release of Usage Meter with updated OVF signing.
To proceed with the deployment in the meantime, follow these steps:

  • Initiate the Deploy OVF Template wizard as usual.
  • When the Review details page appears, locate the certificate warning.
  • Click Ignore to acknowledge the expired certificate.
  • Continue through the remaining steps of the wizard.
  • The deployment will complete successfully, and the appliance will power on without issues.
