Issue/Introduction

When restored virtual machines in an isolated environment managed by Veeam SureBackup are powered-on, the following events may occur.

- Connection to vCenter Server via vSphere Client is disconnected immediately.
- Error icons on host(s) or cluster(s) turn on and off intermittently on connected vSphere Client.
- Able to connect to vCenter Server via SSH.
- Able to connect to virtual machines via RDP and SSH.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server

Cause

One of the restored and powered virtual machines is a vCenter Server virtual machine that is restored from the running vCenter Server by Veeam SureBackup and it is reachable to existing ESXi hosts, the same ESXi host is accessed from the running and restored vCenter Servers simultaneously then duplicate certificates renewal happens and disconnected <-> reconnected conditions repeats.

Resolution

Workaround:
Power-off the restored vCenter Server virtual machine.

Resolution:
Exclude vCenter Server from restore target of Veeam SuperBackup.
