Issue/Introduction

IPFIX traffic not sent to the configured IPFIX collector

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi with IPFIX enabled.

Cause

Unlike port mirroring, IPFIX cannot be configured without a specified TCP/IP stack.

Resolution

• Configure proper vmk adapter for IPFIX collector.
• If you want to configure IPFIX on a VDS, create vmknic on the appropriate TCP/IP stack as follows:
  • For a DPU-backed VDS, create vmknic on the 'ops' TCP/IP stack. Else, the flow information is not exported to collector.
  • For a non-DPU-backed VDS, create vmknic on the 'defaultTcipip' TCP/IP stack.
