DCS 6.10 installation fails with error "Failed to retrieve database information"

Issue/Introduction

A fresh installation of DCS Management Server 6.10.x fails with error:

"Error with installation. Error code: 1.

Failed to retrieve database information".

Apart from the above error, the MSI installation log located in user's Temp folder lists a SQL SELECT COUNT query on master database that failed to execute.

DCS 6.10.x

Cause

SQL Server is configured to force encryption for incoming connections:

Resolution

Make sure to select "Force Encryption Enabled" option in database configuration window during DCS Management server installation.

This option is not selected by default.
