CA7 REST API and Datacom Server LE options to avoid abends

Issue/Introduction

This article explains what LE options to use when starting Datacom Server 15.1 in order to avoid abends in the Datacom Server region.

The workload from the CA7 REST API is unique such that the recommended HEAPPOOLS setting , delivered in Datacom/AD CAAXMAC(CEEUOPT) , is inefficient and can cause LE storage to become fragmented . When this happens , the mainframe Datacom Server region can fail.

Datacom Server 15.1 from Datacom/AD 15.1  ( delivered on the AD 15.1 SU2501 installation package).

Cause

Using inefficient HEAPPOOLS setting.

Resolution

The recommended HEAPPOOLS setting :

Create a new CEEOPTS data set to use in the Datacom Server startup job . Copy the CAAXMAC(CEEUOPT) values and modify the HEAPPOOL setting as recommended.
