Unable to commission an ESXi host from VCF SDDC manager after re-imaging - Fails with error "Host(s) already present in Inventory, validation failed"

Issue/Introduction

• Unable to Add / Commission the host  to the SDDC manager inventory after re-imaging.
• Adding the host to the SDDC UI fails with the error "<ESX Host FQDN>: Host(s) already present in inventory, validation failed"

Environment

VMware SDDC Manager 5.2.x

Cause

This is due to the stale entry of the host in the SDDC manager database.

Sometimes this happens when an ESXi host has a hardware error and is not recoverable, but still is referenced in the VCF SDDC manager database.

Resolution

Resolving this issue requires assistance from Broadcom Technical Support. We recommend contacting Broadcom Support for further investigation. Collecting and providing a log bundle from the SDDC Manager will help expedite the troubleshooting process.

Cleanup on the Database will be required.
