Bypass 'xorg-x11-server-Xvfb' prerequisite check during AAI installation or upgrade

Issue/Introduction

During the installation or upgrade of Automic Automation Intelligence (AAI), the process may halt or fail due to a missing xorg-x11-server-Xvfb package. Administrators may need to bypass this specific prerequisite check to proceed with the installation in environments where this package is not available.

SYMPTOMS:

• Installation and upgrade stops at prerequisite check

• Error regarding missing Xvfb package

  • [main] ERROR com.termalabs.upgrade.main.SelectJawsInstallationMain - Xvfb package is not installed, please install and retry again.
         [java]  You can try running "yum install xorg-x11-server-Xvfb" or "apt-get install xvfb" as appropriate.

Environment

 

• OS: Linux / Unix

• AAI Install/Upgrade 24.x

 

Cause

This package is documented as a prerequisite for installing AAI and using the Webswing Configuration tool.

Resolution

1. SET ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE

   Open the terminal session where you will run the installer. Run the following command to set the bypass variable:

   Command: export skipXvfbPreReqCheck=true

    

2. VERIFY VARIABLE (OPTIONAL)

   Ensure the variable is set correctly to 'true':

   Command: echo $skipXvfbPreReqCheck

    

3. RUN INSTALLER

   Execute the AAI installation or upgrade script in the same terminal session immediately after setting the variable.

   Upgrade Command:

./upgrade.sh -a

Install Command:

./jaws-ue-unix-installer-<version number>-setup.sh -q

 

The installer launches and skips the 'xorg-x11-server-Xvfb' prerequisite check.

Additional Information

Note that if you skip the check for this package during installation or upgrade, the AAI Webswing configuration tool will not be available for use. 

In order to access the Webswing configuration tool you will need to run the installer again with the xorg-x11-server-Xvfb package installed.
