Issue/Introduction

This is notice of an important runtime changes required before Applying  July 2025 Web Viewer r14 PTF (LU17323) or Web Viewer will not deploy or run Earlier maintenance levels are not affected. 

Environment

• Output Management Web Viewer™ for z/OS
• Apache Tomcat®
• Java
• BM WebSphere Liberty
  
  

Resolution

Before applying PTF LU17323 or later, please confirm the Java version, servlet container, and application server in each environment and plan any required upgrades.

If you are currently running Java 8 or Java 11, you may remain on a June 2025 (or earlier) PTF without change.

However, to apply PTF LU17323 or any later maintenance, your environment must first be upgraded. If Java 8/11, Tomcat 9, IBM WAS (traditional), or an earlier Liberty version is still in use, the July 2025 (and later) PTFs will not deploy or run.

Beginning with PTF LU17323 and later, Web Viewer r14:

·       Requires Java 17 or Java 21

·       Requires Apache Tomcat 10.x

·       No longer supports IBM WebSphere Application Server (traditional)

·       Supports IBM WebSphere Liberty 23.x or later
