Aria Operations Business Application Health metric always showing 100%

Issue/Introduction

The Business Application Health (%) should decrease when its child objects are in a degraded state.
However, The Business Application Health remains at 100% regardless of underlying object conditions.

Business Application UI path (Operations > Configurations > Logical Groupings > Business Applications)

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

There were no active alerts for the object with underlying conditions.

Resolution

Creating a custom alert to trigger for the underlying conditions will resolve the issue.
The Business Application health score will only change if there is an active alert under the object monitored by it.
