"Host not compatible with the image" error during Compliance check on vSphere Lifecycle Manager

Issue/Introduction

• The vSphere  Lifecycle Manager Image Compliance check on a Cluster fails with error "Host not compatible with the image".
• The information icon in red under image version shows error "Replace the ESXi version in the image with one of the same or higher version."
• Example:

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

ESXi version in the image is a downgrade of the installed version on the host.

Resolution

Replace the ESXi version in the image with one of the same or higher version.
