Issue/Introduction

When connecting a Local Manager to a newly built Global Manager in NSX Federation, the import process fails with the following error:

Unable to import due to these unsupported features: Group with Host Transport Node Entity GROUP_COUNT_WITH_TRANSPORT_HOST_NODE_MEMBER at site site_name is not supported for configuration import on GM. Please delete entity GROUP_COUNT_WITH_TRANSPORT_HOST_NODE_MEMBER from the site site_name and try again.

This error prevents the successful federation of the Local Manager configurations into the Global Manager.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

NSX Federation does not support importing certain configurations from Local Managers into the Global Manager. When these unsupported configurations exist in the Local Manager, the import process is blocked to maintain compatibility with the Global Manager's federated architecture.

Resolution

  • Identify and remove the unsupported feature from the Local Manager before attempting the import.
  • Complete the import of the supported Local Manager configurations into the Global Manager.
  • After the import completes successfully, you can add back any unsupported feature configurations directly to your Local Managers.

Additional Information

For a complete list of supported and unsupported features for NSX Federation import, refer to the NSX Federation documentation on importing Local Manager configurations.

This workflow ensures your Local Manager configurations are successfully federated while maintaining the ability to use unsupported features at the local site level after the initial import.
