Aria Operations displays "0 days remaining until Disk Space (Demand) runs out" on a datastore

Issue/Introduction

• When navigating to Aria Operations → Capacity → Assess, the Disk Space (Demand) metric for a datastore shows 0 days remaining.

         

 

• However, upon checking the same datastore in vCenter, sufficient free disk space is available.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

• The datastore reported as running out of disk space is in maintenance mode within Aria Operations.
• When an object is placed in maintenance mode, data collection for that object is automatically paused, which can result in incorrect or stale capacity calculations being displayed.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, exit the datastore from maintenance mode:

1. Navigate to Operations-> Configuration-> Inventory management.
2. Select the target object in maintenance mode.
3. Remove the object from maintenance mode. Refer to the Resolution section of the KB for detailed steps.
4. Wait approximately 5 minutes for the data collection cycle to resume.

Once data collection restarts, the disk capacity metrics will update correctly.
