Issue/Introduction

During a VMware Tools update using vSphere Lifecycle Manager, the auto-generated snapshot description displays a timestamp that exceeds the configured automatic deletion time by 30 minutes.

For example, the snapshot keep period is configured to 1 hour in Lifecycle Manager.

The following description of the snapshot shows an auto-deletion time that is 1 hour and 30 minutes after the creation time:
Snapshot generated by VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager at 2026-01-09 02:47:22.814 (Lifecycle Manager local time). Snapshot will be automatically deleted at 2026-01-09 04:17:22:814.

Note: The output above is an example. Actual dates, times, and variables may vary.

Environment

vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

This is expected behavior. The automatic snapshot deletion task runs every 30 minutes.
Therefore, the description reflects a timestamp that adds 30 minutes to the value configured in Lifecycle Manager.

The actual snapshot deletion occurs at any time within 30 minutes after the specified keep period has elapsed.
