Issue/Introduction
There is a version mismatch between the TKC object and Cluster object.
While attempting to update the TKC object to the desired version, following error is seen: error: tanzukubernetesclusters.run.tanzu.vmware.com "<tkc-name>" could not be patched: admission webhook "default.validating.tanzukubernetescluster.run.tanzu.vmware.com" denied the request
Environment
vSphere Kubernetes Service
Cause
The TKC object and cluster object need to be on the same version in order to retire the TKC object from the environment.
This version mismatch is usually seen if Cluster version is updated on a TKC Cluster, which is not recommended. (Recommendation is to update TKC, not the Cluster object)
