Issue/Introduction

Upgrading the BIOS is crucial for ensuring hardware compatibility, enabling new features, and maintaining optimal system performance. It supports sub-component enhancements and I/O optimization.
To download the Hardware Diagnostic images:
Download SSP-S410 Diagnostics under the support portal > My Download > SSP-S410 Platform > SSP-S410 Platform > Diags 4.1.1.19 (Latest Version)
Download SSP-S210 Diagnostics under the support portal > My Download > SSP-S210 Platform > S210 Disgnostics > Diags 4.1.2.7 (Latest Version)

Environment

Upgrading the hardware diagnostics and BIOS requires the following:
1. A serial connection.
2. Physical access to the appliance to do a cold power cycle.

Resolution

1. Obtain the latest hardware diagnostics version from the support portal
2. Install the updated hardware diagnostics code.
#config t
(config)# diagnostic-systems
(config-diagnostic-systems)# view
(config-diagnostic-systems)# load <latest hardware diagnostics image link>
(config-diagnostic-systems)# exit
3. From a serial connection, restart the appliance and boot into the hardware diagnostics.
(config)# restart
Are you sure you want to restart the appliance? [no,yes] yes
Press the space key to select an alternate system to boot.
This machine has the following diagnostic systems:

4. Upgrade the active CPLD flash.
Diag> upgrade cpld
5. Upgrade the active BIOS.
Note: Upgrading the BIOS will upgrade NVRAM firmware together. DO NOT upgrade the NVRAM separately. Upgrading the NVRAM separately will erase the serial number on the appliance.
Diag> upgrade bios
6. Exit hardware diagnostics and reboot.
Diag> exit
Are you sure you want to exit diagnostics - Y/N? > y
7. Interrupt the ISG boot with the spacebar, select the diagnostics menu by pressing d, and select the latest hardware diagnostics image
