Issue/Introduction

When attempting to configure Log Forwarding from VCF Operations > Infrastructure Operations > Configurations > Log Collection to VCF Operations for Logs, you may receive an "Access Denied" error.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

This is expected behavior for the VVF license tier. The native Log Forwarding UI requires the Fleet Manager component for integration, which is only available under a full VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) license.

Resolution

Since native UI integration is not supported with a VVF license, you must manually configure the Log Insight (LI) Agent on the appliance:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations node via SSH.

  2. Configure the VMware Aria Operations for Logs Linux Agent which can be accessed from /etc/liagent.ini path.

  3. Point the agent to the FQDN/IP of your VCF Operations for Logs appliance.

  4. Restart the liagent service using service liagentd restart to begin log forwarding.

Additional Information

Refer to the official documentation for Default Configuration of the VMware Aria Operations for Logs Linux Agent for detailed agent setup steps.
