Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi host becomes unresponsive and the server will need to be rebooted to recover.
  • Preliminary log review shows no relevant errors in vmkernel.log before the reboot event.

      Hardware Model: UCSX-210C-M7

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

Cisco UCS M7 Server can become unresponsive due to an incorrectly handled error-correcting code (ECC) error. This issue is only applicable to Intel-based platforms that are running the releases specified above.
