vCenter missing from License Management in VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

In VCF Operations 9.x, a vCenter managed via the VCF Adapter may not appear in the License Management section. Symptoms include:

  • The vCenter is visible in the VCF Adapter page but does not show the "Current instance" message under the Managed by VCF Operations column. (Refer to Screenshot 1)

  • The vCenter is missing from License Management > Licenses > vCenter Systems. (Refer to Screenshot 2)

  • The vCenter UI may display warnings regarding expired or missing licenses. (Refer to Screenshot 3)

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Cause

The vCenter has not been activated for management by the current VCF Operations cluster, preventing it from being registered as a licensable asset in the inventory.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to Activate Management on the vCenter in question:

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.

  2. Navigate to Administration > Integrations > VCF.

  3. Select the checkbox for the affected VCF/vCenter entry. (Refer to the Screenshot)

  4. Click the ACTIVATE MANAGEMENT button at the top of the grid.

Additional Information

If the issue is not resolved after following this KB, please take the Aria Operations cluster offline and bring it back online. Click ACTIVATE MANAGEMENT on the VCF Adapter and wait for 10-15 mins.
