• The MTU and port bind are configured correctly.
• Connectivity checks using vmkping and nc commands to the storage are successful.
• Rescanning or restarting the ESXi host does not resolve the issue.

Cause

If the ESXi host's initiator (IQN) is missing or incorrectly registered on the storage side, the device will not be detected.

Resolution

Verify the IQN registration status on the storage and register the correct IQN.
For verification or modification steps, contact the support team of the relevant storage vendor.

Additional Information

You can verify the IQN for ESXi using the following methods.

-- UI
Connect to vSphere Client and check the following:

  > ESXi in the inventory > Configuration > Storage/Storage Adapters > “Identifier” for the relevant vmhba

-- CLI
Connect to ESXi via SSH and execute the following command:

  $ localcli storage core adapter list
