Issue/Introduction

When using a backup solution a VM name in VMware Cloud Director is causing issues due to special characters. This can be due to a legacy VM Name such as:
VmName-#### (######-########-########-#####)

The parenthesis cause the backup solution to fail, and the VM will have to be renamed in a supported fashion.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Resolution

Rename the VM using the out-of-the-box supported method (see Edit Virtual Machine Properties in the VMware Cloud Director Tenant Portal). An extra character can be added, and after the operation completes the extra character can be removed. This will rename the VM appropriately in vCenter.
