Issue/Introduction

Flows from workloads on DUAL DPU ESXi hosts are not appearing in VCF Operations for Networks

NOTE:  VCF Operations for Networks was formerly named Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and prior to that was named vRealize Network Insight (vRNI).

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks

Cause

DPU enabled ESXi hosts require a vmkernel adapter with an IP address / netmask that can communicate with the Collector IP Address / netmask, using the "ops" netstack.

Flow data from workloads running on DPU enabled ESXi hosts (either single or dual DPU) intended for the destination of a VCF Operations for Networks collector, must flow over a vmkernel interface that is configured to use the "ops" netstack.

Resolution

If the network (IP address / Netmask) of the vmkernel interface that is configured to use the "ops" netstack is the same as the network  (IP address / Netmask) of the VCF Operations for Networks Collector node, then flow data should be expected to be seen exiting the DPU enabled ESXi host.

To confirm that flow data is exiting the DPU enabled ESXi host, follow the directions in the following --> KB 419729 - How to determine if IPFIX packets are flowing from DPU enabled ESXi hosts to VCF Operations for Networks Collector node(s)
