Issue/Introduction

The bulk task functionality in the Identity Portal is failing, preventing managers from extending contractors' contracts in bulk. Log analysis indicates a java.lang.NullPointerException error and parsing failures during the bulk operation submission, suggesting a data handling or attribute mapping problem between Identity Portal (IdP) and Identity Manager (IdM).Environment and Suspected Cause

The bulk task failure is observed specifically in the production environment running Identity Portal Version 14.5 GA. The issue's onset correlates with a recent infrastructure change: the cluster was expanded to include two new nodes running CentOS 9, alongside the existing two nodes running CentOS 8. The presence of mixed operating system versions in the cluster on the GA version is suspected to be the root cause of the task failure. The non-production environment, which has been upgraded to Service Pack 1 (SP1), does not exhibit the same bulk task failure.

Environment

14.5 GA (with planned migration to 14.5 SP1 CHF01

Resolution

Due to the stability of the older code base, Engineering is not providing a hotfix for the 14.5 GA version. The agreed-upon resolution path is to implement a product upgrade:
Immediate Action & Long-Term Fix: The client must upgrade the production environment to at least Version 14.5 SP1 CHF01. This version is mandatory as a prerequisite for engaging Engineering if the issue persists.
Verification: Following the successful upgrade to SP1 CHF01, the client is required to re-test the bulk task functionality to confirm the problem has been resolved.
Future Migration: It is further recommended that the client continue planning for an eventual migration to Version 15. This strategic move is advised as Version 14.5 is scheduled to reach End-Of-Support (EOS) on September 12, 2026, making a transition to Version 15 a critical step for maintaining a fully supported environment.
Until the upgrade is completed, there is no direct fix for the 14.5 GA production environment. The case is proposed to be closed/archived, with the option to reopen if the issue persists after the planned upgrade to 14.5 SP1 CHF01.

Additional Information

If the bulk task issue is not resolved after the upgrade to SP1 CHF01, an evaluation by the Engineering team will be necessary to determine if it is possible to create a hotfix on version 14.5.1 CHF01 or if it will only be possible to correct the issue in Version 15.
