Issue/Introduction

After an unplanned server reboot (e.g., following a Windows update), the Dollar Universe Explorer (DUX) service fails to start automatically, even when configured for Delayed Automatic Startup.

  • The service remains in a stopped state.

  • Manual attempts to start the service fail.

  • The service only starts successfully after manually deleting the RUNNING_PID file from the installation directory.

Environment

Product: CA Automic Dollar Universe Explorer (DUX)

Version: 7.x

Operating System: Windows

Cause

When a server reboots unexpectedly, the DUX service is terminated abruptly. This leaves a stale RUNNING_PID file in the file system.

  4. Manually start the DUX service via the Windows Services Manager (services.msc).
