Issue/Introduction

  • Attempt to add an unassigned ESXi host to a cluster fails immediately during the Host selection.

Environment

SDDC 5.2.x
VCF 9.x

Cause

The issue occurs due to incorrect metadata entries in the SDDC Manager inventory database.
This condition is commonly introduced when inventory changes are performed directly in vCenter Server outside of SDDC Manager (OOB changes), resulting in a mismatch between SDDC Manager and vCenter records.

Resolution

If you encounter the symptoms outlined above, contact Broadcom Technical Support for further assistance, as the resolution involves modifying SDDC database instance, which should be performed with caution.
