Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions on how to verify the "Alarm name" and "Description" found in vCenter Server email notifications by using the vSphere Client.

 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3

Resolution

The "Alarm name" and "Description" contained in vCenter Server email notifications can be verified by navigating to "Alarm Definitions" in the vSphere Client.
1. Log in to the vSphere Client.
2. Select the relevant vCenter Server or object.
3. Click Configure tab.
4. Click Alarm Definitions.
5. Utilize the "Filter Items" to locate the specific alarm by the name provided in the email notification.
6. Click on the alarm to review its Name, Description, Targets, and Alarm Rules.
