Issue/Introduction

Administrators often need to identify which specific client machines were installed using a particular Cloud-enabled Management (CEM) Offline Installation Package. Previously, while the SMP console showed the count of installed clients, it was not always intuitive to navigate to a filtered list of those specific assets to perform further management tasks or troubleshooting.

Environment

ITMS 8.8.1

Cause

This feature was implemented to address a visibility gap where administrators could see the number of successful offline installations but could not easily drill down into the identity of those resources from the same interface.

Resolution

Starting with ITMS 8.8.1 release, a new feature has been introduced to the User Created Cloud-enabled Installation Resources page. This update provides a direct functional link within the "Installed Clients" column. Clicking this link opens a filtered view of the "Machines installed via Offline CEM Package," allowing administrators to immediately see which clients are registered with the Symantec Management Platform (SMP) via the CEM Gateway for a specific package.

Note:
With our ITMS 8.8 release, administrators could view filters associated with each created CEM offline package (permanent certificates) under the “Machines installed via offline CEM package” root folder (under Manage > Filters > Computer Filters).

Starting with ITMS 8.8.1, this information is now available in a new location. The “User Created Cloud-Enabled Installation Resources” page provides visibility into CEM offline package names and exported NS Communication Profiles configured with CEM settings. This page also displays the number of client machines that have been deployed using each package or profile for the specific SMP Server.

To view the specific machines associated with an offline CEM package, follow these steps:

Step 1: Access the CEM Installation Resources Page

  1. Open the Symantec Management Console.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Notification Server > Cloud-enabled Management > User Created Cloud-enabled Installation Resources.

Step 2: Use the "Installed Clients" Link

  1. Locate the row containing the specific CEM Offline Package you wish to investigate.

  2. Find the Installed Clients column.

  3. Click on the Blue Number (hyperlink) representing the count of installed machines.

NOTE:
This link is only active if the count is greater than 0.

Step 3: Review Filtered Results

  1. A new dialog or page will open titled "Machines installed via Offline CEM Package".

  2. This page displays all available CEM Offline filters based on your created packages.

  3. You can now see the Name, Description, and Modified Date for the clients associated with that package.
