Issue/Introduction

All of the Zerto alarms defined to vSphere are prefixed with com.zerto.event.

During a Zerto installation, the vCenter Server specified as part of the installation is accessed, and the Zerto alarms are defined in the vCenter Server.

Environment

vSphere 8.x

Cause

This alarm indicates that one or more ESXi hosts in the cluster do not have a Zerto Virtual Replication Appliance (VRA) installed.

Zerto requires a VRA on every host where protected VMs might run. If a protected VM is vMotioned to a host without a VRA, Zerto loses the ability to replicate that VM. When this happens, the entire Virtual Protection Group (VPG) containing that VM enters a failed state and stops protecting all VMs in the group.

Resolution

Engage Zerto for resolution.
