Dead paths listed on the host hba ports after the device was unmapped from the array

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Dead paths listed on the hba ports
  
• You will find the below error message in the vmkernel log when you search with the device_id

Environment

vSphere vCenter 8.0

vSphere ESXi 8.0

Cause

Backend LUN unmap or presentation changes on the storage array were not followed by a storage adapter rescan on the ESXi host, resulting in stale path information.

Resolution

Rescan the storage adapter to remove the dead paths.

esxcli storage core adapter rescan --all
