Issue/Introduction

Alarm Service Control Agent Unreachable in vCenter.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXI 8.0

Cause

In vCenter, the alarm (often appearing alongside the legacy code xxxxxxx) indicates that the VxRail Service Control Agent (SCA) on an ESXi host is unreachable.

This is a VxRail-specific management alarm. It does not usually mean your Virtual Machines have stopped running, but it does mean the "brain" of the VxRail (the Manager) has lost its connection to that specific physical server for management tasks.

Resolution

Check Host Status:

Ensure the host itself isn't "Not Responding" or "Disconnected" in vCenter. If the whole host is down, the VXR alarm is just a symptom of the host failure.

Please contact the VxRail team for further troubleshooting.
