ISG SSLV

Issue/Introduction

This is geared to clarify licensing of SSL Visibility on the ISG appliance.

Environment

SSL Visibility 5.5.1.1 or greater on ISG 2.5.3.1 or greater.

Resolution

SSLV on ISG supports the Enterprise license model.  Proper configuration requires an up-to-date Enterprise license to be installed on both ISG and the SV application.  When the SV application is created on ISG, the user is required to specify an Enterprise license installed on the ISG.  That is, SV inherits its license from ISG.  A subsequent SV factory reset will also cause the re-inheritance of the ISG license.

Complexity arises with this Enterprise model, when license subscriptions expire.  For example, the SV application may update its license (via load or auto-update) but ISG may not have updated.  A subsequent re-creation (or factory reset) of the SV application would result in its inheriting an expired license.  Therefore, it is recommended that both ISG and the SV application update licenses in tandem.

The license can be updated by the SV application via SSLV WebUI or COE CLI.  The license status will be presented via GUI screenshot below:
