VDT reports VMdir Local State Check (Read)

Issue/Introduction

• When running the VMware Diagnostic Tool you see: [FAIL] VMdir Local State Check (Read)
• Your vCenter Appliance recently ran out of disk space due to /storage/core filling up as described in /storage/core partition full due to core files in vCenter Server Appliance

Cause

VMdir went into a read-only statue to prevent corruption due to the vCenter Appliance running out of disk space.

Resolution

After you resolved the disk space issue as described in /storage/core partition full due to core files in vCenter Server Appliance, restart the vmdir service on the vCenter appliance: 

service-control --stop vmdird
service-control --start vmdird
