Issue/Introduction

You continue to observe agent Clamp issues.

Some time clamping issue occurring on the agent side and some time clamping issue occurring on tenant/EM side.

You are trying to find a good solution to handle agent Clamp issues regardless where the metrics clamping is occurring in the environment.

Resolution

Presently, this is the funcationality that is available.

 - EM side clamp is hit  -> can be monitored via agent clamping metric. 
 In APM UI under super domain -> Custom Metric Host (virtual)-> 
 Custom Metric Process (virtual)-> Custom Metric Agent (superdomain) 
-> Agents -> <hostname> -> <Agent> -> is Clamped 

 

- Agent side clamp is hit.  -> this is not available.

As a workaround, we suggest setting up Agent side clamp higher then EM side clamp, this way EM side clamp should always hit first.
