Issue/Introduction

PCI devices with "0000" set as the Subsystem Vendor Identifier (SVID) and/or Subsystem Identifier (SSID) may be incorrectly flagged as incompatible within VMware Lifecycle Manager's (vLCM) Hardware Compatibility (HCL) check

One example of such a device can be found on the Broadcom Compatibility Guide.
https://compatibilityguide.broadcom.com/detail?program=vsanio&productId=50383&persona=live

Broadcom is aware of this issue and is working to implement a fix in future software releases.

Environment

VMware Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) Hardware Compatibility (HCL)

Resolution

HCL warnings for devices with "0000" set for their SVID and/or SSID should be double-checked manually by looking up the device in the Broadcom Compatibility Guide (BCG). If the device is compatible according to this guide, then the warning can safely be ignored.

To ensure that vLCM (vSphere Lifecycle Manager) remediation of vSAN clusters containing these devices is not blocked by the warning, verify the following setting:

Navigate to Cluster -> Updates Tab -> Image Compliance Section -> Edit Remediation Settings, and ensure the checkbox that reads ‘Prevent remediation if hardware compatibility issues are found’ remains unselected
