Issue/Introduction

Newly deployed vSphere Replication appliance site pairing fails with below error message - 

Unable to connect to HBR Management Server at https://VRMS appliance:8043. Reason: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: 30,000 milliseconds timeout on connection http-outgoing-383 [ACTIVE]

 

Environment

VMware vSphere Replication 9.x

Cause

The vSphere Replication appliance had dual NICs configured; however, one interface was active and passing traffic, while the second interface was administratively or operationally down.

 

Resolution

• The secondary network interface on the vSphere Replication Management Server (VRMS) appliance was disconnected at the vSphere layer. Subsequently, all relevant appliance configurations—including DNS resolution, NTP synchronization, and certificate validity—were reviewed and validated.
• Following these corrective actions, the site pairing operation was retried, after which the vSphere Replication sites were successfully paired and the connection state is now reported as Connected.
