In VMware Aria Operations, the Showback (VM Cost) dashboards may display a cost value of 0 for Virtual Machines within a Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) environment.
While GCVE World metrics are successfully collected, specific cost-related metrics such as Effective Daily Cost, Monthly Effective Projected Total Cost, and MTD Total Cost do not populate with actual values.
This issue is typically observed when viewing the dashboards under Cost > Overview > Google Cloud VMware Engine.
To resolve the zero-cost reporting, you must update the GCVE Rate Card with the correct parameters:
Download the Rate Card: Navigate to Operations > Configurations > Cloud Providers > GCVE > 3 dots and download the existing Rate Card CSV.
Verify Instance Name: Ensure Column A (Instance Name) is set to the hardcoded value ve1-standard-72. Do not modify this name.
Align Cloud Region: Ensure Column H (Cloud Region) matches the exact Region property string of your GCVE object.
To find this, go to Inventory > All Objects > Google Cloud VMware Engine > Private Cloud, select your Private Cloud, and check Metrics > Properties > Configuration > Region.
Update Price: Update Column L (Instance Price) with the correct numerical value in USD. Aria Operations will automatically apply the currency configured in your global settings during calculation.
Import the Card: Save the CSV and import it back into the Operations > Configurations > Cloud Providers > GCVE page.
Trigger Calculation: Manually run the cost calculation by navigating to Administration > Control Panel > Cost Calculation and selecting Run.
Once the calculation is complete (you may also manually run Cost Calculation from Administration > Control Panel > Cost Calculation), the updated values will appear in the Showback (VM Cost) dashboard. You can confirm success by selecting any VM and verifying that the MTD Total Cost and Effective Daily Cost metrics are now non-zero.
