Non-vSAN cluster show evaluation license key or expired license key

Issue/Introduction

• vSphere clusters without vSAN services enabled may show vSAN cluster license in evaluation / expired state.

• Upon checking vCenter licensing management page under Assets > vSAN Clusters tab, license state shows as below.

Environment

VMware vSAN 8.x

VMware vSAN 9.x

Cause

The issue can be seen when adding a vSAN cluster license under cluster and removing which will leave the license information cluster configuration.

Resolution

In order to resolve the issue, the license can be removed using MOB page of vCenter server. Refer the instructions below to fix the issue.
