Issue/Introduction

  • After snapshot consolidation, the vSphere Client reports complete without any errors.
  • The snapshot disk remains and continues to require consolidation.
  • The hostd log reports snapshot consolidation failure.

Resolution

This is a known issue, and since the consolidation actually fails, you will need to resolve the cause and then retry the consolidation.
This issue has been fixed in ESXi 7.0 Update 3o (build 22348816) and 8.0 Update 1c (build 22088125), and if the consolidation fails, an error will also be displayed in the vSphere Client.
